Dr. Alex Benner was born in Florida and then spent his formative years along the east coast and overseas. Patients have commented that Dr. Benner is pleasant, considerate, understanding, and attentive to his patients’ well-being. The nature of dentistry is personal, and Dr. Benner strives to foster long term relationships with his patients by performing high quality work that lasts a lifetime in a relaxed setting.
Dr. Benner graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science and a supplemental major in Chinese. He earned his DMD from Temple University, where he was awarded a scholarship for scholastic achievement and served as president of his class. Interestingly, he lived a number of years in China and graduated high school from the International School of Beijing.
Dr. Benner furthered his dental education at Jefferson University Hospital, one of the country’s foremost residency programs. There he gained extensive experience in treating medically compromised patients, implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and complete oral rehabilitation cases.
Dr. Benner strives to provide the highest level of comprehensive dental care with minimally invasive and conservative techniques. He has been comprehensively trained for “teeth in a day” or “all on 4” style tooth replacement as well as for placing implants in areas with limited or no bone. Because of his work in the field of implantology, he has been awarded as a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology.
Dr. Benner was blessed to have exceptional mentors guide him through his decision to enter the field of dentistry. With a strong interest in science, as well as a desire to have daily and impactful interaction with people, dentistry was a perfect match. It is a career where he can help others and use his talents to directly affect good in his community.
Dr. Benner shares a love of the outdoors with his wife and daughter. Many weekend afternoons are spent hiking through Michaux State Forest taking in the beauty and peace of nature. He also enjoys coaching and mentoring middle school softball and basketball teams in faith, discipline, and excellence.
When he finds some spare time for himself, there's always a good book to be read or an open road to find with his motorcycle.
Over the past decade of Dr. Benner's involvement in the field of dentistry, he has observed and empathized with patients' anxieties and fears, which has helped to shape his demeanor and chairside manner. Care, understanding, expert workmanship, and mutual trust are the cornerstones of his practice. In fact, he was voted 'Top Doc' in Philly Magazine several times.
