Dr. Neslund has always been dedicated to helping people achieve better health, not just oral health. During your time with him, you’ll quickly learn from his chairside manner that he is fully prepared to answer your questions and provide a level of customer service not typically found in the dental field. Below, you’ll find a detailed profile of how he formed Carlisle Family & Cosmetic Dentistry and his path to becoming the exceptional dentist he is today!
To Dr. Thomas Neslund, family and health are incredibly important. His passion has always included promoting good oral health and helping people achieve a beautiful smile that they're comfortable showing off. To him, using positive reinforcement to create a healthy dental experience that exceeds expectations is second nature. Of course, part of that mission is also staying ahead of the latest advancements and breakthroughs in the field, which is why he’s studied extensively with the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education (SPEAR) since 2000. He is also currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Pennsylvania Dental Association.
During his undergraduate education, Dr. Neslund attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania to earn his BS in Natural Sciences and minor in Economics in 1986. He would then go on to earn his DMD degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1990. Soon after, he found himself on an interesting path to furthering his career while making a difference in people’s lives. Later that year, he was commissioned by the U.S. Public Service known as the Indian Health Service. During his assignment to the Choctaw Indian Reservation in Philadelphia, Mississippi, he expanded his knowledge in many facets of dentistry, including restorative, endodontic, surgical and pediatric dentistry while completing his four-year commitment to helping others. After returning to the area in 1998, Dr. Neslund worked in Baltimore, Maryland and Carlisle, eventually opening Carlisle Family & Cosmetic Dentistry.
Even outside of the dental office, you can find Dr. Neslund working to promote positive health for people of all ages. During his time at IUP, he played soccer for four years for the Crimson Hawks. In more recent years, he was an assistant coach for the Carlisle High School Girls Soccer Team and a Youth Soccer coach for six years. He was also a former YMCA Soccer Board Member.
Dr. Neslund enjoys spending quality time with his three daughters. As an active individual, you can find him running, cycling or cooking in his free time.
